NO HOLDING TRACK UPDATE

In May 2019, three years after holding tracks were first proposed, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) indicated it “will not agree to freight train holding tracks in Glenview or Lake Forest.” The proposed holding tracks were part of a 2016 plan developed to increase daily trips on the Amtrak Hiawatha line from Chicago to Milwaukee.

While the holding tracks are no longer being considered, Village of Glenview officials continue to work with IDOT and the railroads on alternative scenarios that can increase passenger rail service without detrimental impacts on our community.

THANK YOU

We could not have achieved this successful outcome without tremendous support from concerned citizens and volunteers who dedicate time and effort to informing their neighbors and talking with elected officials.
